Stacey's daughter Devin asked for ladybug cupcakes.  When I asked her what she wanted, I was certain she would ask for something Harry Potter.  I was very surprised at her choice.

Happy Birthday Sam!!! Spiderman cookies...

I feel so lucky that in Bermuda we are allowed to cook treats at home and send them with the kids to school!!!  Most moms send cupcakes with their kids on their birthday.  These cupcakes are often distributed to the kids at the end of the day, on the way out the door.  I can't tell you how many times I have driven through to collect the boys and they are holding a sticky cupcake in their hands, ready to get into the car and devour it...  Obviously, I don't have anything against cupcakes.  I love them!  However, I don't love them smeared all over the backseat of my car.  For Sam's birthday this year, I decided to make cookies instead.  A nice, dry treat that will only produce crumbs...  He is really into SpiderMan right now and wanted Spidey cookies.

So I spent half the night making 31 Spidey cookies.  He liked them so much, he asked for another batch to be made this weekend... He asked so sweetly, how could I possibly say "no?"

Camouflage cake

My latest challenge was to make a camoflage cake... Inside and out.  I don't have a picture of the indside yet, but this is how the camo fondant turned out.  It wasn't as difficult as I had anticipated.

Kyle's 40th birthday cake: Boba Fett

Every time someone wants a Star Wars themed cake, Kyle suggests I make a Boba Fett cake like on ehe saw online.  So for his big day this year, I made the cake for him.

Sonic the Hedgehog cake for Asher

Asher's mom, Terri, asked if I would make a "Sonic" cake for Asher's party this weekend.  I agreed, even though I didn't yet knw who Sonic is.  I had to start doing research to figure out who he is.  This is my cake rendition.

Happy Birthday Ana!!! Princess cake

Kyle's brother, Derek, brought his family to Bermuda to visit us.  My niece, Ana, celebrated her 7th birthday earlier this month and we wanted to have a little cake "party" for her.  She wanted a pink princess cake like another I made a couple of years ago.  Here's her cake!

Captain America Cake

My Drew turned 10 on Friday.  For his birthday, I made a Captain America cake.  Kyle showed me a picture of one like it and I just had to try it...  Drew loved it!

Inside, I layered the cake to look like the American flag when it was cut...

And no party is complete without a goofy picture of the Birthday Boy!!!

Chieko's wedding cake...

I did a wedding cake for a destination-style wedding.  It was a morning ceremony on the beach.  The bride, Chieko, wanted hibiscus flowers on her cake.  She designed it herself and I put it to cake!  The flowers were much easier to make than I had thought they would be.  Time-consuming, though!

Puppy shower cake...

My dear friend Deidre is having a boy!  She has decorated her nursery with the cutest puppy theme!  So for her shower, I made a fondant puppy for the top of her cake.

In addition to the centerpiece cake, I made these little matching cupcakes for each place setting at the table.

A recent wedding cake for a formal and rather elegant wedding.

Thank you cake for Bobby...

This cake was for a gentleman at our church who has spent many, many hours over the years "taking care of stuff..."  I can find it difficult making cakes for men.  I always have lots of cute ideas that are almost all better suited for girls and women.   In order to have enough cake to serve everyone at church, I made cupcakes to coordinate.

Jersey cake...

A replica of a soccer team jersey.  Velda requested this cake as a surprise for her brother's birthday.  This is his favorite team.

I found pictures of the jersey online and tried to do all of the details...

Taxi cake...

I just stumbled upon this cake picture when looking for a different picture.  Velda requested a taxi cab cake.  I think it was in February.  It was during a time when I was doing a lot of cakes and travelling.

These were for a party at church in honor of those who donate their time.

I find the simplest details can make cakes very elegant.

Gingerbread houses...

One of the first days of break from school the boys wanted to do gingerbread houses.  They had tons of fun!  I think they ate as much frosting and candy as they put on the houses...

Oh, Christmas Cookie... Oh, Christmas Cookie...

I have spent the majority of the last 3 days making my Christmas Cookies.  I tried a few new things this year.  The "snow globe" cookie was really fun to create!  In addition to the cookies pictured, I made Christmas pine trees and mittens... They have all been eaten by my monsters already!  I'll have to remember to take pictures as I go along.  Here they are:

And some close-ups:

I put some sugar glitter on the snow for these cookies.  You can't see it very well in the pictures.

Two birthday cakes for Velda

Velda asked me to do 2 different cakes for this past weekend.  The first was for a Sweet Sixteen Party.  For a girl who apparently loves movies.  Velda asked for the Birthday message on a movie ticket.  I added the popcorn and coke to make it a little more fun.

The second cake was for a Lakers Fan.  Velda sent me a picture of a cake and asked me to replicate it.  I did change a few details.  I used Royal Icing to make the Lakers Logo for the cap.  The picture she sent me had the logo printed on fondant.  I thought this turned out really well.  It looks cool!  It was a lot easier than I had anticipated.

Seeing stripes

This cake isn't anything special on the outside....

You have to cut into it for the surprise inside:

Last week, before we left for Minnesota, Tracy sent me an email with a picture of a zebra striped cake...  All of a sudden I was obsessed.  How did they do that???  I spent a lot of time thinking about it.  I tried one before we left and it was a serious flop.  (Kyle enjoyed eating it, flop or not.)  It took 3 more tries once we returned home to get it right.  I think it looks really cool!  I would have decorated it a little more fancy but since it is just an experiment, I decided to go easy.  Plus, it was after 9 last night when I was ready to decorate!  I had a bunch of leftover batter so I decided to see if it would work with cupcakes:
The technique needs a little tweaking but I still think they look pretty cool!

Cupcakes for Sam's class...

I stayed up until nearly 1 am this last night making these cupcakes for Sam's birthday celebration at school with his class.  Bears are popular at our house!  I love that we can send homemade goods to school with the boys...
